We just came back from EXHIBITORLIVE, the show about trade shows. The exhibit hall at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas was packed with the latest and brightest in the industry – both people and products. After attending this industry gathering for last fifteen years it is amazing to realize how the exhibit industry has evolved and the amazing new opportunities that are available for inspired marketers.
Back in 2001, on my first trip to “the show” I was amazed with the intricate custom designs, the creative inspiration of artists given free will to wow their audience. And I have to admit that through the years the awe sometimes fades, as you learn more about the details and get used to the systems used in exhibit design.
Fortunately, this year I was lucky enough to walk the show with a “newbie”, a brand new member of the team. Oh what a treat! Through this new-comer’s ’eyes I was able to re-discover the wonder of this remarkable industry, and be marveled not just by the beauty, but also by the functionality and sheer resourcefulness that event marketing involves. It was great to hear “wow”, “cool”, and the very special “really??”. And I can now appreciate the fact that perhaps I am 15 years older, but I am also 15 years wiser with everything that has to do with trade shows. And it is such a great pleasure to share this with my peers, just like I do every day with our customers.
So, I could not wait to get back home and write up this short note and fill up your screens with lots picture, so that you, our most valued customers, can share in the wonder.
